Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with A.C. Lion Inc. — from item minimums and fees to auction timelines and payouts. Find your answer below, then request your free estate consultation when you're ready.
Eligibility & Getting Started
What is the minimum item count to qualify for estate consignment with A.C. Lion?
The minimum is 100 items. Estates with fewer than 100 consignable items do not meet the threshold for our full estate liquidation service. If you are unsure whether your estate qualifies, submit a consultation request and we will assess it with you.
What item categories does A.C. Lion specialize in?
A.C. Lion specializes in sports memorabilia, pop culture collectibles, music and instruments, and fine art. Mixed estates — those containing items across several of these categories — are also welcome. Visit our Category Expertise page for a full overview.
How do I start the process?
The first step is to request an estate consultation. From there, our team will review the scope of your estate, confirm eligibility, and walk you through next steps at no obligation.
Fees & Pricing
What is included in the $250 flat fee?
The $250 flat fee covers cataloging, photography, and listing up to 100 items on AuctionNinja. This is the base intake fee for a standard estate engagement. For a full breakdown of our pricing structure, see the Pricing and Process page.
What happens if the estate has more than 200 items?
Estates exceeding 200 items move into a negotiated rate structure. The exact terms depend on the total item count, category mix, and logistical complexity. We work with you to arrive at a rate that reflects the scope of the engagement. Contact us through the consultation form to discuss your specific situation.
How does the travel fee work and when does it apply?
Whether a travel fee applies depends on how the estate is handled. If items are brought to our facility, no travel fee is charged. If our team needs to come to the estate location for on-site intake, a travel fee may apply based on distance and time. We will clarify this during the consultation before any commitment is made.
Shipping & Logistics
Can items be shipped or does the estate need to be local?
Shipping is available for eligible items, so the estate does not need to be physically local to our team. Shipping eligibility depends on the item type, fragility, and size. Certain categories — particularly large or fragile pieces — may require on-site handling. We will confirm shipping eligibility for your specific estate during the consultation process.
Auction Outcomes & Payouts
What happens if an item does not sell at auction?
If an item does not sell during the auction, you have options. Unsold items can be relisted, returned to you, or handled through an alternative disposition method. We will walk you through the available options for your estate so you are never left without a path forward.
How is the payout calculated and when is it issued?
Your payout is calculated based on the final hammer prices achieved at auction, less the agreed commission and any applicable fees. Payouts are issued after the auction closes and buyer payments have cleared. We will provide you with a full accounting of results before the payout is processed.
Timelines & Deadlines
How does A.C. Lion build the timeline around a closing date or move-out deadline?
We understand that estate liquidations are often tied to hard deadlines — a home closing, a lease end date, or a family transition. When you provide us with your deadline, we work backward from that date to structure intake, cataloging, photography, listing, and auction close so that everything is resolved before you need the space cleared. Communicating your deadline early is the single most important step you can take to ensure a smooth process.
What is the typical intake-to-auction-close turnaround?
Turnaround time varies based on item count, category complexity, and scheduling. In general, the process from completed intake to auction close runs several weeks. We will give you a specific projected timeline during the consultation once we understand the full scope of your estate.
